This Sunday, February 2nd the TAC Kids Seed Store will be open following our worship gathering. This is an opportunity for our kids to come and redeem their Seeds. Which begs the question, what are these Seeds your kids are bringing home?
There’s nothing special to them. They are just a 3”x4” piece of laminated paper. And they are a tool. They are tool we have been using to encourage our kids to bring their Bibles on Sunday mornings, to participate in discussion in both large group and small group time, and to recite the unit memory verse to one of their small group leaders. The important thing here is not that kids collect Seeds. It’s not even that they bring their Bible or answer a question. The important things for us are:
Our Seeds Store comes around 3-4 times a year, and is a chance for kids to cash in their seeds for things from bouncy balls to Bibles. We intentionally provide the opportunity for kids to redeems things that will help build into their spiritual growth so that those kids who are ready for that can take those steps, while those who are just excited to pick out a new pencil or race car can do that too.
So parents, we’re sorry for some of the little trinkets that make their way home! But know that our purpose behind the Seed Store is less about kids cashing in their Seeds for toys and more about celebrating what they’ve learned while leaving space for them to continue to grow into spiritual maturity.
