We have domesticated God. We are no longer filled with awe at who He is. We don't fear him. We don't tremble in his presence. Our songs and conversations usually emphasize the love and kindness and nearness of God. These attributes are essential and true, but are only part of who God is. What about his holiness? What about his transcendence? Have we domesticated God and made him out to be smaller than he really is?
This Sunday we start the new year with a brand new series in the book of Ezekiel. For many of us Ezekiel is a strange and neglected book, perhaps many of us have never read it through before. But Ezekiel has a very important message for Christians today. In Ezekiel we see God for who He really is, and he's not as safe as we remembered. God is wild and strong and holy, and we simply cannot tame him. Join us in the new year as we spend 13 weeks in Ezekiel being re-introduced to the untameable God.
