Read Romans 3:21-31
After establishing that all people are sinners in need of God’s righteousness, Paul finally unpacks the good news of what God has done through Christ to redeem lost people. In this theologically dense and important section we learn how God has displayed his righteousness, redeemed lost sinners, and established his perfect justice.

  1. What do you find most amazing about the gospel from this text?
  2. This text contains several words that we hardly use in our everyday English, but are very important to understand. What do these words mean and why are they important: justification, propitiation, redemption?
  3. Why does it matter that God is both just and merciful?
  4. Paul says the gospel excludes boasting. How does the cross lead to greater humility? What does it indicate when a Christian is not acting humbly?
