Opening
What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?
Summary
Read Acts 2:14-41
After the amazing events of vv.1-13, Peter now gets up to explain this phenomenon. God has raised Jesus from the dead, and now he sits on his throne from where he has poured out his Spirit and inaugurated the last days. The right response to this message is to repent of sin and to be baptized in identification with Jesus as a picture of genuine faith.
Discussion Questions
- What elements does Peter include in his gospel message? What must we include for the gospel to have been proclaimed?
- When Peter explains the coming of the Holy Spirit (wind, fire, and languages), he almost entirely focuses on Jesus. What does this tell us about the role of the Holy Spirit?
- What are the two witnesses that Peter appeals to for authority? How is this significant as we share the gospel today?
- In what sense are we all prophets (vv.17-18)? 5. What is involved in repentance? What kind of behaviours do people do to avoid repentance? How should repentance be part of the ongoing Christian life?
