What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary

Read Acts 2:1-13

The coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost was a crucial moment in salvation history. It was the birth of a whole new era for God’s people. Much like the incarnation, atonement and resurrection, the events of Pentecost were a unique one-time event that had eternal ramifications. It will never be repeated, nor will it ever be retracted. God is personally present with all of his people, empowering them to witness to all nations.

Discussion Questions

  1. What is the significance of the sound of wind and the appearance of fire in the Old Testament? What do they signify?  What is different about Acts 2?

  2. Why did God display the coming of the Holy Spirit with the miraculous speaking of unlearned languages? Why in that way?

  3. What were the community of believers doing before Pentecost and what do they do after the Holy Spirit comes? Is it possible that we are acting like the Spirit hasn’t come?

  4. Who specifically has God sent you to? If you know who, name them and pray together as a group for these people. If you don’t know, pray that God will show you.
