With decorated trees and twinkling lights we celebrate Christmas by beautifying this dark time of year. But the events surrounding Jesus’ birth were not quiet and beautiful, but were complex and wrought with fear and suffering. Jesus was born into a world of darkness and suffering as God’s long-promised yet surprising King. In the darkness and suffering and complexity of our world, will we recognize the king?
